My completed novel is a YA Standalone Fantasy set in an Arctic world.
Ben is a sixteen year old schoolboy who has walled off his heart after the death of his mother. He’s convinced he can’t survive the loss of anyone else, so withdraws from those he loves including his grieving father. One blazing summer day he steps through a fracture between worlds into a land made of winter. A land that’s alive and asks for his help. Turns out Ben can landsense and Nhu, his reluctant, self-reliant rescuer can snowsing, a dangerous, forbidden power over the elements. Together they may be able to save the dying land, but something, or someone, seeks to twist Nhu’s song to drain the last of the land’s life instead.
Ben wants to help, he really does. Nhu has a habit of saving his life and she and her brutally beautiful land are getting under his skin. Problem is, helping means letting them both deep into his heart which terrifies him. But if he can’t find the courage to do just that, Nhu and everything she loves will be lost.
