Lorica tells the story of two strikingly different women who forge a life-changing friendship across the divide of Roman Britain’s northern frontier. Think Thelma and Louise on horseback. It is currently in the query trenches.
Britannia, AD 208. Lorica is a high-born Roman, unwillingly betrothed to the emperor’s son; Eisia is a Caledonii warrior, imprisoned at Hadrian’s Wall. Rome’s impending invasion of the north makes them enemies. However, desperation drives them into a reluctant alliance and a perilous journey north. Working together to survive kindles a bond that neither expects and gives Lorica a taste of freedom she can’t forget. When Lorica’s intended tracks them down and demands her obedience, she will be forced to choose between the life she knows and a wholly different one far beyond the wall.
